Itinerary
Day 1
ARRIVAL IN MARRAKECH
Arrival at Marrakech airport, reception by our staff and transfer to a charming riad.
There are many monuments to visit: Yamaa el Fna Square, souks and the Koutoubia mosque.
Day 2
Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Roses Valley – Dades Gorges
After picking you up at your hotel or riad in Marrakech (or at the airport), we will set off for Ouarzazate. On the way, we will cross the Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, 2,260 metres high.
Shortly after crossing the Atlas we will arrive at the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, an incredible fortified city where films such as Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven have been shot.
After the visit we will take the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs towards Skoura where we will stop at the Kasbah of Amredhyle. From here we will go to Kelaat M’gouna, capital of the Roses Valley, to finally reach the Dades Gorges, where we will stay in a charming hotel.
Day 3
Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Merzouga
After breakfast we will resume our journey towards the Dades Valley and cross the impressive Todra Gorges, where we will stay until lunchtime.
With renewed energy, we will take the road to Merzouga and cross the Jorf Palm Grove (where it is said the best dates come from) and Erfoud, a pretty town where you can visit a marble workshop.
Once in Merzouga and after recovering from the shocking image of its dunes, we will leave the car to enter the desert on camelback in search of the camp where we will spend the night.
Day 4
Rissani – Alnif – Tazarine – Draa Valley – Agdez – Ouarzazate
If there is something that no one can miss, it is enjoying a sunrise in the desert, so today we will get up early. After contemplating this moment, we will get on the camels to go to our hotel.
On the way back to Ouarzazate we will take a different route. Passing the Tafilalet Palm Grove and the village of Rissani (origin of the Alaouite dynasty and former capital of the Alaouite sultans) we will arrive at Alnif, where we will join the road that crosses the Anti Atlas mountain range.
Marvelled by the shapes and colours of these mountains we will arrive at Tazarine (an important Berber village), N’kob and, finally, the Draa Valley and its surprising palm grove.
In the afternoon we will cross the Anti Atlas through the Tizi n Tnifift pass (1,660 metres) towards Ouarzazate, where we will spend the night in a charming riad/kasbah.
Day 5
Ouarzazate – Marrakech
After breakfast we will visit the famous Kasbah of Taourirt and the Atlas Film Studios, the most important in Africa.
We will be back in Marrakech in the early afternoon.
