For 10 days, we will take you to explore the most fascinating corners of this captivating country, from the ancient medinas full of history to the desert landscapes that will leave you breathless.

Itinerary

Day 1

TANGIER, CHAOUEN (BLUE CITY)

Depart for Chefchaouen, known as the “Blue City”. Explore the picturesque streets and souks of this charming mountain town.

Once we have explored the historic centre of the city, we will stay in our charming hotel or riad.

Day 2

CHAOUEN, ROMAN RUINS OF VOLUBILIS, FEZ

Arrival at the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. We stroll along the cobbled streets and admire the impressive mosaics and architectural structures dating back to Roman times.

We continue the journey to Fez, the oldest imperial city in Morocco where we will spend the night in a charming riad.

Day 3

Guided tour of the Medina of Fez (Old Town)

During our guided tour of the Medina of Fez, there are a variety of fascinating places to explore. Here are some things you might see during your tour:

  • Bab Bou Jeloud (Blue Gate): This iconic gate is the main entrance to the Medina and is known for its stunning blue and green architecture.
  • Attarin Madrasa: An ancient Quranic school displaying beautiful mosaics and wood carvings, representing the excellence of Islamic architecture.
  • Souks and Labyrinthine Streets: Immerse yourself in the bustling market of the Medina, where you can find a variety of products such as spices, textiles, ceramics and more.
  • Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque and University: Visit one of the oldest mosques in the world and one of the oldest continuously operating universities.
  • Fez Tannery: Observe the ancient process of leather dyeing, a tradition that has been maintained for centuries in these tanneries.
  • Bab Semmarine and Bab Chorfa: Other impressive gates that offer access to different parts of the Medina.

We will head south through the Middle Atlas, stopping in Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco”, famous for its alpine architecture.
We will continue towards the Cedar Forest of Azrou, home of the famous Barbary apes.

Day 4

MERZOUGA DESERT

We will leave Midelt in the morning, passing through the Ziz palm valley until we reach the Merzouga Desert, where
we will have an exciting camel ride and spend the night in a haima camp within the desert dunes.

Day 5

MERZOUGA DESERT, VILLAGE OF NOMADS, AFRICAN VILLAGE KHAMLIA

We will start the day with one of the great attractions of our organized trips to Morocco: the sunrise over the sea of ​​dunes.

After breakfast we will return to Merzouga by camels and after a shower we will leave and visit Khamlia, the so-called village of ‘the Africans’, so called because its inhabitants are descendants of the ancient slave trade that came from Sudan. They are excellent musicians and have made this art their way of life. With them we will enjoy a small concert of Gnawa music. We will return to the 4×4 to travel along one of the tracks used in the Paris-Dakar Rally, visiting the Khol mines and the remains of a French and Berber village.

We will make a panoramic stop to admire the sand desert that encompasses the Erg Chebbi as a whole. We will visit some desert nomads who are in the process of becoming sedentary, with whom we can have tea and learn more about their way of life. Return to the hotel.

Day 6

MERZOUGA, RISSANI, ERFOUD, TODRA GORGE, DADES VALLEY

Today we will have the opportunity to live an unforgettable experience watching the sunrise over the sea of ​​dunes in the desert. After breakfast we will return to Merzouga on camels and after a shower we will leave for Tinghir, “the city of the mountain” in Berber, another beautiful Berber village where we will delight in the contrast of its palm groves and its pink-painted houses.

We continue along the route and the landscape shows us its contrasts. We are in the Todra Gorges, formed by rock walls over 200m high and with a clear, crystalline river running through it. After visiting it, we will head towards the Dades Valley, a Berber village also famous for its high gorges, its beautiful landscapes and its views of the Atlas. Night and dinner in a charming hotel.

Day 7

DADES VALLEY – OUARZAZATE – AÏT BEN HADDOU – MARRAKECH

We will cross the Dades Valley and the Valley of the Roses, until we reach the cities of Ouarzazate, we will visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a spectacular village of clay and stone with buildings surrounded by large walls, an aspect that makes it one of the most beautiful places in Morocco, it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is also famous for being the setting for film blockbusters such as the Oscar-winning “Lawrence of Arabia”, “The Sheltering Sky” or “Babel”.

Once visited, we will continue along the road that crosses the Tichka pass, the highest mountain pass in Morocco, with more than 2,260 meters of height and impressive views that will lead us to the “Red City” of Marrakech. Night in a charming riad

Day 8

VISIT TO THE RED CITY OF MARRAKECH

After breakfast, we will visit the city of Marrakech. There are many monuments that you can visit with our driver: Ben Youssef Madrasa, Bahia Palace, Yamaa el Fna Square, Saadian tombs, souks and the Koutoubia mosque.

Day 9

MARRAKECH – ESSAOUIRA – MARRAKECH

Essaouira is a relaxed and peaceful Moroccan town located in the west of Morocco. It is the perfect place to relax and take a break from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. In the Berber language, Essaouira means ‘wall’ and travellers from all over the world do not miss the opportunity to explore this beautiful city, its special climate and its delicious fresh seafood.

Our day trip from Marrakech to Essaouira starts at your Riad, where we will pick you up to begin the journey through the attractive Moroccan valleys bathed by orange trees, olive groves and farms. Once you arrive in Essaouira, you will be amazed by the contrast of its medina bordered by walls and occupied by bazaars that are easy to navigate. Its surprising beaches are the ideal place to practice surfing. Visiting the port is a must, you will feel like you are travelling back in time and going back in time.

We will return to Marrakech around 6 pm, overnight in a charming Riad.
