Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Fez
Arrival at Fez airport, reception by our staff and night in a charming riad.
Day 2
GUIDED TOUR OF THE MEDINA OF FEZ (OLD TOWN)
We will spend the day getting to know Fez, visiting the golden doors of the Royal Palace, built by bronze masters.
We will visit the old Medina with its Koranic Medersa, the Nejjarine fountain, one of the most beautiful in the medina, the Karaouine Mosque, which houses one of the main cultural centers of Islam and is the headquarters of the University of Fez, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss (Founder of the City of Fez).
We will stop in the famous tanners’ quarter, unique in the world. Stop for lunch and we continue visiting the Medina of Fez with its artisans’ quarters divided by guilds.
We’ll head south through the Middle Atlas, stopping in Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” famous for its alpine architecture.
We’ll continue to the Azrou Cedar Forest, home to the famous Barbary apes.
Overnight and dinner at a charming hotel in Midelt.
Day 3
Merzouga Desert
After a delicious breakfast we will head towards the Merzouga desert, crossing the Ziz Valley which will take us to Erfoud, known for its fossils and magnificent views. Various scenes from the mummy movie were filmed here.
Arrival in the desert, specifically in Merzouga, known as the jewel of the desert due to its beautiful views and immense dunes, where we will change the car for dromedaries with which we will take a pleasant walk through the dunes until we reach the haima camp in the heart of the desert, where we will be welcomed, according to Sahara tradition, with Berber tea.
Night and dinner in haimas under the desert stars.
Day 4
MERZOUGA – RISSANI – ERFOUD – TODRA GORGE – DADES VALLEY
Today we will have the opportunity to live an unforgettable experience watching the sunrise over the sea of dunes in the desert. After breakfast we will return to Merzouga on camels and after a shower we will leave for Tinghir, “the city of the mountain” in Berber, another beautiful Berber village where we will delight in the contrast of its palm groves and its pink-painted houses.
We continue along the route and the landscape shows us its contrasts. We are in the Todra Gorges, formed by rock walls over 200m high and with a clear, crystalline river running through it. After visiting it, we will head towards the Dades Valley, a Berber village also famous for its high gorges, its beautiful landscapes and its views of the Atlas. Night and dinner in a charming hotel.
Day 5
DADES VALLEY – OUARZAZATE – AÏT BEN HADDOU – MARRAKECH
We will cross the Dades Valley and the Valley of the Roses, until we reach the cities of Ouarzazate, we will visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a spectacular village of clay and stone with buildings surrounded by large walls, an aspect that makes it one of the most beautiful places in Morocco, it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is also famous for being the setting for film blockbusters such as the Oscar-winning “Lawrence of Arabia”, “The Sheltering Sky” or “Babel”.
Once visited, we will continue along the road that crosses the Tichka pass, the highest mountain pass in Morocco, with more than 2,260 meters of height and impressive views that will lead us to the “Red City” of Marrakech. Night in a charming riad.
