Itinerary
Day 1
TANGER, CHAOUEN (BLUE VILLAGE)
Departure to Chefchaouen, known as the "Blue City". Explore the picturesque streets and souks of this charming mountain town.
Once we have toured the historic center of the city we will stay in our hotel or charming riad.
Day 2
Tangier - Asilah
After breakfast, we will depart to the small coastal town of Asilah stopping at the caves of Hercules and Cape Espartel, the northern tip of the African continent. We will continue our tour to the small coastal town of Asilah. The walls surrounding the city were built by Alfonso V of Portugal in the 15th century. In the area of the sea there are old cannons. At the Puerta del Mar, next to the Portuguese square tower that dominates the entire city, is located in the square of Sidi Ali Ben Hamdush, whose interior is dedicated to exhibitions. By the sea is the Hispano-Moorish mansion known as the palace of El Raisuni, now the palace of culture. The medina consists of very clean and quiet white houses with colorful murals, the street lighting is original "the lantern of Arcila" and the houses are being rehabilitated with beautiful neo-Arabic design. The paving of the streets is the work of local artists. Highlights by the sea an ancient Muslim cemetery, with multicolored ceramic tombs, and the mausoleum of Sidi Ahmed el-Mansur, Saudi who reconquered the city after the Battle of the Three Kings. Day 3
Asilah - Tetouan - Chefchaouen
After breakfast, we started our tour to Chefchaouen or Chaouen, as many call it, located in the only intercontinental natural park declared a natural reserve of the biosphere. It is a village perched on the mountain painted white and blue, populated by people knew, friendly and respectful, and offers visitors beautiful urban landscapes, precious samples of local crafts, and a peace and serenity that today is hard to find. Day 4
Chefchaouen - Volubilis - Moulay Idriss - Meknes
We leave the rich world of Chefchaouen and head towards Meknes; the smallest of the imperial cities. On the way we will visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis, very well preserved. We can also see a panoramic view of Moulay Idriss, the holy city and in the afternoon we will arrive in Meknes to enjoy the sunset while visiting the walls and gates of the medina or just taking the welcome tea in the riad. Overnight in riad.
Day 5
Meknes - Fez
After breakfast we will depart to Fez. Arrival in Fez and have free time to stroll around and start to know the city. Overnight in riad.
Day 6
Visit of the Medina and the Monuments of Fez
After a delicious breakfast at the riad, we begin our guided tour of the new part of the city of Fez, where we approach the Royal Palace, the Jewish quarter (Mellah) and then go to a viewpoint where we can see the entire medina from the South Tower. Afterwards, we will walk through the medina, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its labyrinthine streets structured by guilds of potters, dyers ... etc., the bustle of its people will transport us back centuries. We will notice that it is a medieval city and that time has stopped in the clock "Magana Bounania" 1,200 years after its construction, a wonder! Accommodation in riad.
Day 7
Fez - Ifrane - Monkey forest - Midelt - Merzouga
After breakfast we will pick you up at your hotel and depart in the direction of Midelt, known for the cultivation of apples. On our way we pass through Ifrane, the "Moroccan Switzerland" and the Forest of large Cedars, also known to be inhabited by several families of monkeys, which is located near the town of Azrou and we will stop to see them and feed them. We will pass through Midelt and then leave in the direction of Merzouga, the desert. In the afternoon we will arrive in Merzouga. Transfer to the riad where you will spend the night. Free time for a first contact with the dunes. Overnight in riad very close to the dunes.
Day 8
Merzouga - Khamlia - Camel Tour and night in Nomadic Tents
We are already in the desert and today will be a day of total desert. After a rich breakfast, we will surround the Erg Chebbi, extension of the sand desert where the Great Dune of Morocco is located, over 250 meters high, and arrive at the village of Khamlia, originally from Mali, where we will relax with a tea while enjoying a small concert of spiritual music Gnawa. Return to the hotel to leave on camels to enter the heart of the dunes and contemplate an unforgettable sunset. We will arrive with the camels to the camp where we will stay in haimas. Dinner and overnight in tents in the heart of the desert, under a spectacular blanket of stars.
Day 9
Merzouga desert - Rissani market - Todra Gorges - Dades Valley
"Appointment with the sunrise": since you are in the desert it is advisable to get up early to walk to the highest dune around the camp to enjoy the sunrise and the relaxing scenery that nature offers us. We will return by camel to the village of Merzouga. After a delicious breakfast, we will say goodbye to the desert and we will leave for Rissani, where we will visit its market. We will follow the road to Erfoud where there is also the possibility to visit the fossilized marble factory before continuing to the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad. Later we will arrive at the Todra Gorges. The Todra riverbed has formed a gorge of vertical walls of enormous proportions and great beauty; it is a climber's paradise and a unique place. A half hour walk is recommended to see and enjoy in detail the Gorges. In the afternoon we will continue to the Dades Valley, also known as the Valley of figs and passing through Boumalne Dades we will stop at the "monkey's paws". Dinner and overnight in the Dades Gorges.
Day 10
Dades Valley - Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou - Ouarzazate
After breakfast we will depart to Ouarazate, also known as the gateway to the desert. There you can visit if you wish the Film Studios. Later you will visit the beautiful Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and where films have been shot as well known as Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven or The Jewel of the Nile. After the visit we will return to Ouarzazate for the night.
Day 11
Ouarzazate - Essaouira
After breakfast, we will leave for Essaouira, the ancient Mogador. Built by the Portuguese on a narrow peninsula next to a huge crescent of fine sand. From the top of the Skala you can see the fishing port, fortresses and Spanish cannons. The city is largely pedestrian and is divided into different neighborhoods by its grid layout. Essaouira is also famous for its refined craftsmanship, especially tuya wood objects interspersed with lemon wood, ebony, mother-of-pearl or copper or silver threads. If you like fish, you will enjoy a tasty meal at the port. Accommodation in riad.
Day 12
Essaouira - Marrakech
Free day to enjoy the city, the sea and the beach. In the afternoon we will return to Marrakech for the night. Overnight in riad.
Day 13
Marrakech - Ouzoud waterfalls - Marrakech
Excursion to Ouzoud to visit the most famous waterfalls in Morocco, near a village with the same name. Its impressive 100 meters high are the ones that give strength to the waters of the river el-Abid. Return in the afternoon to Marrakech. Overnight in riad.
Day 14
Marrakech
After breakfast you will have a guided tour of Marrakech to see all the historical and cultural sights including the Menaret Koutoubia; the Saadi tombs; the beautiful Bahia Palace and the Ben Youssef Koranic school. Finally, you can finish the morning walking through the narrow streets of the medina, an opportunity to admire the different craftsmen performing their trades before arriving at the famous Jamaa El Fna square. After dinner you will have the option to walk around the square and watch the magicians, storytellers and food vendors. Overnight in a riad.
